Before You Ride

Your safety is our top priority. These guidelines are mandatory for all UTV, ATV, and snowmobile rentals.

Driver Requirements

  • Age: 21+ with valid driver's license
  • Insurance: All drivers must be listed on insurance - This is mandatory
  • Condition: Physically capable and completely sober
  • Experience: Basic vehicle operation knowledge required

Pre-Ride Inspection

  • Test brakes, steering, throttle, and kill switch
  • Check tires, lights, and fluid levels
  • Verify all safety equipment is present

Safe Operating Practices

Zero Tolerance Policy

  • Never ride impaired - No alcohol, drugs, or impairing medications
  • Wait 8+ hours after drinking alcohol
  • Don't ride if tired, unwell, or taking drowsy medications

Smart Riding

  • Ride within your skill level - Start slow, build confidence gradually
  • Keep both hands on handlebars, feet on footrests
  • Scout unfamiliar terrain first
  • Maintain safe speeds for conditions

Vehicle-Specific Safety

UTVs: Always wear seatbelts, secure doors/nets, stay inside vehicle, respect passenger limits

ATVs: No passengers (unless designed for two), maintain proper position, avoid stunts, use caution turning

Snowmobiles: Check ice thickness (4+ inches), maintain following distance, avoid riding alone in remote areas

Required Equipment

Personal Protection

  • DOT-approved helmet (required)
  • Eye protection (goggles/face shield)
  • Long pants, long sleeves, closed-toe shoes
  • Gloves for grip and protection

Vehicle Equipment

  • First aid kit and emergency whistle
  • Flashlight and basic tools
  • Tow strap and emergency contacts

Trail Safety & Environment

  • Stay on designated trails, respect private property
  • Yield to hikers, horses, and uphill traffic
  • Check weather before departure, turn back if conditions worsen
  • Keep safe distance from wildlife
  • Pack out all trash

Emergency Procedures

Accidents

  1. Assess injuries (don't move seriously injured)
  2. Call 911 immediately
  3. Provide first aid if trained
  4. Document with photos and details
  5. Contact host and PSS about the incident

Breakdowns/Getting Lost

  1. Move to safety, stay calm
  2. Use emergency equipment to signal
  3. Contact emergency services if in danger
  4. Contact host and PSS support
  • Verify all drivers listed on insurance policy
  • Carry required documentation
  • Understand local laws and area restrictions
  • Report incidents to insurance immediately

After Your Ride

  • Inspect vehicle and report any damage immediately
  • Complete incident documentation if needed
  • Secure vehicle properly
